We are looking for a Finance Accountant to join Opera’s Finance & Accounting team in our Dublin office!
The accounting and financial reporting team within Opera is responsible for preparing timely and accurate financial statements for the Opera Group and its subsidiaries. Ensuring effective and efficient internal controls over financial reporting is inherent in everything the team does. As the company is growing its operations and increasing the number of legal entities in the structure, Opera is searching for a new talented team member to fill the position of the group’s Finance Accountant in Ireland.
As our new Financial Accountant, you will be part of the small and highly competent Dublin finance and accounting team. You will be supporting your colleagues not only in Ireland, but also interact with the headquarter in Oslo, Norway. In this position you will be challenged with different tasks and get a broad understanding of the finance operations across the Company.
Main responsibilities
- Responsible for timely and accurate preparation of monthly management accounts
- Balance sheet reconciliation
- P&L reconciliation
- Bank reconciliations
- Ensure SoXs compliance; preparation and review of documentation and controls
- Maintaining and updating accruals and prepayments
- Review and approval of VAT and tax returns
- Fixed asset book maintenance
- Cash management
- Loan reconciliation
- Preparation of annual financial statements and leading the local audit
- Assisting with group year end audit requirements
- Assisting with reconciliation and posting of trading account
- Financial controlling of some international entities in the Opera group
- Other ad hoc duties as required
- Support Senior Finance Management as required
You should have a desire to help improve Opera’s financial closing process and make it best in class. Your goal will be to close accurate books for the group within 3-5 days of every month end.
Desired Qualifications
- Qualified Accountant with 3-5 years post qualified experience (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
- Strong commercial background
- Possess strong accounting knowledge
- Knowledge of VAT and tax handling and reporting of same
- Knowledge of IFRS accounting standards
- Experience with group month-end close activities including internal controls
- Well organised with great attention to detail
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Ability to work on own initiative and independently
- Ability to prioritise tasks and use discretion to multitask accordingly
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fluent in English, verbally and written
- Experience with Workday, our cloud-based ERP system
- Experience in a multinational environment
- Experience in a listed company will be considered an advantage
